Todays chess computers have come a long way from electronic chess of old. They have superb (and variable) strength and are very useful in game improvement. There's no such thing as chess computers that are too strong for any player. The software for any machine has settings from 'novice' to 'expert' so that the computer chess game is enjoyable and meaningful to any player.
Every chess computer has ELO ratings that indicate the machine strength - more applicable to stronger players. What is an ELO rating? The English Chess Federation have a rating abbreviated to ECF. This rating multiplied by 8 then adding 600 would result in an equivilent ELO metric. Electronic chess machines that have over 1500 are regarded as strong - there are also computers we have that go up to and over elo 2000.

The Senator is an enhanced version of Novag's new fully auto-sensory desktop model. The superb Citrine is now available with an exclusive set of ChessBaron special edition pieces that really do justice to a computer of this quality. Each one is individually tested and quality checked prior to delivery to ensure you get the very best. When a computer plays this well it deserves a high quality tournament set of pieces. Of course we're sure the same is true of it's human opponent! Rather than the standard chess pieces provided by Novag, we've developed a set of high quality pieces, weighted, very detailed and in solid Rosewood. You'll also receive the standard set of pieces, so you can always return the enhanced set if you prefer, though no-one has so far, they're too good to lose. The pieces are a Rosewood version of our X3001 set. The King is 3 inches high. They have better magnetism and result in a much better game.
