A luxurious chess set encrusted with Swarovski crystals has been designed by US-based Jewel Cast & Techno, and only 50 of the sets are available to buy anywhere in the world.
Using state-of-the-art jewellery making techniques, each piece is set with gleaming Swarovskis, adding more than a touch of luxury to your average chess game. The gems themselves are cubic zircona and are set into high-grade silver, with a purity content of 92.5 per cent. In total, the entire set weighs a kilo and a half and measures 20cm by 20cm.
Altogether, on the pieces and the board, some 11,500 gems are set and the whole thing is presented and stored in a beautiful wooden box. The box is lined with an acrylic material, which keeps each piece in pristine condition and the owner is provided with a pair of cotton gloves to use when handling the set.
